Why I like Twitter & TweetDeck
There is something to be said about Twitter, it’s like that little guy you see with the Doomsday signs. You just love to read them and see how long you have left. But Twitter goes a step further, it gives us all a sign to carry. Sometimes that sign can change from moment to moment, other times your sign can stay that way for days.
But how do you keep up with it all? At first I was so overwhelmed by Twitter, I ignored it for a while. Then went crazy and then ignored it again. Now I’d say that I am a regular user, perhaps a bit more. But I have a sign I want to carry and I want to share that sign.
There are days where I want to know what is hot and what is not, or at least know what I think is. But following nearly 1,100 Tweeters it can be nearly impossible and the emails about new followers really adds to the headache. SO why Twitter. It is just down right fun, informative and relevant.
To keep up with the Twitter world I found TweetDeck. One heck of a great program, there are other programs but I just love TweetDeck. I can monitor topics I want to know about, see who is a new follower, who talking about me, and Yes I do know who you are. One of the features I like is @TweetDeck has the ability to sync your settings from one computer to another. I can switch between my desktop or laptop and not miss a thing.
Yes I know that I can do search on Twitter, but it can be too much. @TweetDeck just makes it easier. Twitter could take a play out of the @TweetDeck playbook and notify me of new followers and include their profile info. @TweetDeck lets me look at their 140 character bio and go Hmmm… Perhaps or BLOCK. It is so much faster. I do really love seeing some of the Twitter alias but come on, @HotAmishChick ? Yes she is Real and Funny! How about @jeffisageek ? Then of course there are those must follow, at least I think they are. @RobinGrantham @RichBassett @sahans @newmediajim @SomethingGirl @vobes @podcastmama @lanevids @KushielsMoon
And my must nots – @magggi_qq @thebighoot @jamesaholloway@fleckman
What it comes down to is I simply like Twitter & @TweetDeck makes it Fun, Easy and Manageable. There are other apps out there look them over, but start with @TweetDeck and you never want another app.
