New York City Subway Platforms to Go Wireless in Revived Accord – BusinessWeek.

Out here in Kansas the thought of a Subway is kinda foreign, we just don’t have them.  We have buses, trains, airplanes and automobiles.  Some of us have horses, buggies and even a few asses.   But not Subways, what is even worse is a PC Magazine comparison of U.S. Internet speeds in January ranked Kansas 30th, substantially behind first-place Nevada.  Kansas’ low Internet speed, slightly below the national average, can be tied to the lack of modern communication infrastructure in rural areas and the high cost of laying new lines.

So for us a Subway with internet would be great.  I’d love to see some company step up and build an Subway with internet right here in Kansas.  We could have a Subway that went from … hmmm.. not too many places to go. Perhaps Topeka to Lawrence might be an option.  I can drive to Lawrence in about 25-30 minutes.  I don’t think we could use the Subway, but we sure could use the Internet.

Yesterday I talked with a friend who lives maybe about 30 miles from me, they do have internet, 28.8kbs.  Their telephone lines will not support anything faster, cable hasn’t reached their area and satellite would cost toooooo much.

What I’m saying is that here in Kansas a Subway is where you get a sandwich, and perhaps free wi-fi.  What Kansas needs is leadership at the Federal, State and Local levels that will make a difference.  Ones that will fight to bring Kansas forward, and not keep us in the 60′s technology age.

Politicians like Sam Brownback have a lot to say when they want to keep their office or want a new one, but what matters to Kansas is action!  If you are running for office of any kind in Kansas, then get with it and put your shoulder to the wheel and push for Kansas.
